One by one the sturdy pioneers of Weber County and Utah are passing to the great beyond to recieve the reward of their faithfulness and zealous efforts, At the family residence, 3064 Adams avenue, saturday evening, December, 27th, the spirit of William M. Shaw took its departure from mortality after a week's illness from pneumonia, at the advanced age of 76 years, which were occupied in usefulness and the doing of good to his fellow man.

William M. Shaw was born at Bennington, Wyoming County, New York, Sept. 8th 1826. when a young man he heard the teachings of the Latter Day Saints and embraced the same. He suffered the hardships shich the church was compelled to undergo in the early days, but was always firm and steadfast. In the year 1847 he came to Utah with one of the first hand cart companies, and settled in Weber county, where he has made his home ever since, with the exception of the years 1849-50 which he spent in California. He has done much for the upbuilding of Ogden, City and the county in various ways, and his good works will live in the minds of his host of relatives and friends long after he is laid in the silent tomb. He has raised a family of ten sons and daughters who are numbered among the best and most prominent citizens of Ogden; he also leaves a wife and numerous grand children to survive him.

The funeral services will be held at the Ogden tabernacle Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. the remains may be viewed at the family residence on date of funeral from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. the funeral cortege will leave the residence for the tabernacle at 1:15 PM.


William and Diane were re-baptized on Novemeber 13, 1864,  in the Mound Fort district, Ogden, by Robert Winter, Sr. William was confirmed by Amos P. Stone, ordained by Robert Winter, Sr. William died December 27, 1902 at Ogden, Utah. William married Nane Crawford and had two daughters, Vesta and Guertie. Also in later years, married a Mrs. Leak.

Rosabel Shaw Born October 12, 1849. Married John Hubbard.

Manley Shaw - Born December 28, 1851 at Deer Creek, California. Died August 7, 1913, Logan, Utah.

Ambrose E. Shaw  Born August 31, 1857. Married Rosetta Child.

Annie Shaw  Born March 6, 1861. Married James McFarland.

Clarence Shaw  Born March 15, 1870. Lived in San Francisco. He was single. He died there and his estate was divided among his brothers and sisters.
